Night out with the girls!

Yesturday evening we took Raquel out for her stagette! It's hard to believe she is getting married in just exactly ONE more week! I am so excited to be able to share that special day with her and Darcy!

We started off our evening by making her go on a little treasure hunt. Each treasure she found had another clue as well as a few small gifts that she could use in her new home! We made it to Winnipeg just in time to make our 7:30 reservation at "Mona Lisa". It's a nice place despite the fact that you wait FOREVER to get your order taken as well as your food. I mean they had it written in the menu that their food takes awhile to prepare since they make it fresh or something. But still, the wait was a bit ridiculous. None the less, we enjoyed our almost 2 hour supper!

Our bowling reservations were for 9 but we only made it to the lanes by 9:30 because of our "long" supper. We had to wait 20 minutes in order to get in since we had not been on time for our reservations. We eventually laced up our bowling shoes and were ready to go! But wait ..... the evening couldn't go on without a bit more waiting involved. It took them FOREVER to put our names into the system so that we could start. They had accused Lisa of not paying so they hadn't put them up yet. So we started our game FINALLY! Well wouldn't you know...... our pins started to have issues in the middle of the game and then our screen froze. I love it how many times we had little issues here and there, it made for an eventful evening!

Very nice Raquel!

We headed to Timmy's afterwards since we didn't make it on time for the ice-cream place we wanted to go to. That's okay though since Raquel loves Timmy's! We then all headed home and Raquel went to uncover her last clue at their soon to be home.

It was a lot of fun getting to hang out with just girls! Raquel I wish you all the best as you finish up planning in your one week of single life left! I can't wait until April.21!!!!!!!!

Mission Weekend and more .....

Last weekend our college and career group headed to Winnipeg for a mission / fun weekend. Friday night we all checked into the hotel and then spent the evening soaking in the hot tub and playing games! The guys stayed up until around 3:30 in the morning playing Monopoly! Us girls were LONG in bed by then!

The next morning we headed off to Teen Challenge to serve brunch to a group of around 20 guys. We made scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, hashbrowns and also served cinnamon buns and muffins that we had made previously. They really enjoyed it!

After eating was done we presented them with a short program. Cody lead some praise and worship, Paul shared his testimony as well as a devotional and then Cody and Adam finshed off with a special number of their own which the guys all really enjoyed! It was so encouraging watching and being with these guys, and just hearing their story and seeing how much these guys have actually changed the way they live and how excited some of them are about Jesus!

We then headed off to Andrew and Amy's house which is on Burrows. They are friends of Kevin and Becky's from Bible school. They are church planters from our conference. We got together in groups of around 4, including some of their youth which was awesome and started cleaning. We cleaned up garbage on a few blocks surrounding and including Burrows. There was soooo much garbage everywhere. It was so nice to look back and see that we were actually making a difference. You can help others in so many different ways!

In the evening we all went to the Golf Dome and went mini golfing! I probably played my WORST game ever! I went off the green about 4 times for sure! The guys played Monopoly again until about 3 in the morning! Kelsey and I stayed up that late as well and we were not even playing! We weren't even that tired ... not sure why... that is pretty late!

The next morning a few of us went to church in Winnipeg. We could pick anywheres we wanted to go so we decided to go to Kelsey's sisters church near Corydon.
........ and that ended our mission weekend!

FUNDUE NIGHT!

Sunday Jared and I went to Lindsay and Jared's in Steinbach, along with Cody and Michael and had a bit of a farewell for Cody before he left for his trip. Cranium was pulled out and a lot of fun was had!

Lindsay had gotten a fondue set so she made us a chocolate fondue with fruit!
Pretty much right away when the fruit was hauled out, there were 6 eager hands with sharp little forks ready to devour! Everyone was trying to steal everyone else's fruit. It was CRAZY! But oh so delicious! Michael ended up with his hand bleeding a bit as well as a big chunk of fruit being flown into his coffee. All in all a great evening it was!
You can never hang out with cousins too often!

It got pretty out of hand

You're never too old .........

This past Sunday the Dueck clan (including Aunt Mary) headed off through the thick fog to Steinbach! There we went to Tanya and Greg's for games and appetizer night. We all brought together games, food, and laughter! When we had all arrived we noticed something was missing ..... or shall we say someone..... can you guess!?!? You probably can't so I will tell you. The missing piece was who other than Tyler! He finally realised he was going the wrong way down the perimeter when he hit inkster. The fog really affected his driving......he eventually made it and brought some amazing taquitos.

The board games were not even touched all night! Instead, Nintendo Wii took up the whole evening. There was baseball, golfing, bowling (my personal favorite), tennis, and last but not least ..... there was boxing!

Here is a sneak peak of what I mean by ...... "you're never too old"

It was SOOOOO funny watching these two together!

Weekend in Review

Here are a few pictures from my weekend!

Thursday night Jared and I babysat Kai. I can really tell that Kai loves it when we come over ....... especially Jared!

Friday night the whole family came over for Bern's birthday supper! My dad made a tunnel from cardboard boxes for the kids to go through!

...... you aren't a kid Jared ...... it's your own fault for getting stuck!

On another note.....
Just thought I'd share a glimpse with you of what
one of my favorite hobbies is ...

With most of my drawings I look at other pics to draw them but I would really love to take art lessons some day but I feel as though I don't have the time! I think it's just me being plain lazy!!!

Once again I had an action packed weekend!

Friday night Jared and I joined Darcy on a trip to the city. We spent a little time looking at some dining room furniture that Raquel had looked at previously and then we went to the mall and ate and shopped around for a bit! After we decided to go to Timmy's! Jared and I were busy counting our change hoping to have enough to spare for a coffee and an ice-cap! I seemed to have enough for mine and Jared only could find $1. After he had found his precious looney it somehow got out of his hands and it was gone! Lost! We searched for about 10 minutes and eventually I had found it! The whole way to Timmy's he was flaunting his money in our face until I finally decided to knock it out of his hands once and for all! This time we knew it had fallen between the seats so ....... I dug my hand in to see if I could feel for it. Well let me tell you....... I sure did not feel money my first time going down.... rather I felt something sort of softer in a bag. I told Darcy, it feels like there is a bag with a piece of cake in it or something. He didn't think I could be right so he put his hand down between the seats for himself! Sure enough! He felt it as well! I think he was the one that ended up pulling out the mysterious parcel hiding out between his seats. It was probably close to one of the most disgusting things you imagine finding in your vehicle after who knows how long! I will tell you what it was.................. a zip-lock bag with a block of cheese inside!!! Darcy said he had remembered bringing cheese home from Raquels house one time and never knew where it had gone to! Thankfully for him, that bag was sealed nicely for the last few weeks or months! However long it had been there! So we threw the mouldy cheese onto Timmy's parking lot and retrieved Jared's precious looney which had obviosuly fallen beneath the bag of cheese! We then finally enjoyed our beverages!

Saturday night college and career was cancelled at my house since of our paint smell, but I still decided to invite a few people over, hoping they could bear the smell! Of course they all noticed it but at least they didn't smell the fish that my parents had made for supper that night! Probably one of the WORST smells!!
The time had finally come to take out the game of "Scruples". What a great game! You really get to know your friends through a game like this! It apparently doesn't help to be honest either!

After we all soaked it the hot tub for probably almost an hour and a half! We were all looking like prunes when we finally got out!

Sunday was a very long day! First we all enjoyed a lunch at church which was served by our youth group! Mmmmmmm!!! A few of us then headed off to Chad's for pretty much the WHOLE day. Kelsey and I had decided earlier to paint together at Chad's. The guys sat on the couches ALL afternoon and watched curling!! UGHH so boring for me to watch! Thankfully Kelsey and I had our little craft corner going on! I had brought a bulletin board along to paint and Kelsey had brought her paper along to paint on! She is such an amazing painter! She offered to give me a piece of her special painting paper to let me attempt at something. I tried copying exactly what she had painted but turned out just horrible. This is what my final product looked like:

I decided that it was better for me to stick to painting wood and not pictures!

We ordered Bill's pizza for supper and then watched Amazing Race! It was really disappointing seeing Rob and Amber be eliminated from the race.... now I have to pick a new favorite team!

Last weekend was a VERY long weekend for me! On Thursday I only worked until 10 am since I had no work to do and because the weather was so bad. (and that was my last day of work)

I had taken Friday off since I had a foot appointment in the city. Jared willingly let me come along with him since he was going to school anyway. The roads were HORRIBLE!!!! Never been on more icy roads in my life!! Everyone was basically fish tailing. My appointment was for 1pm and he dropped me off at around 12 since he had to be back at the U of M by 12:30. I went up to the office to see if I could get it done right away and I could! It took about 10 minutes and then I had to wait around until 3pm until Jared was done his classes! It felt like forever!! I brought quite a boring book along and I read in the lobby for about an hour and a half and then I headed over to Timmy's which was right across the parking lot and read there for about another 1 1/2!! Finally Jared showed up and off we went to eat supper! We ate around 4ish but we were SOOO hungry!! We of course headed to Applebees! Jared and Darcy arranged for us couples to meet at Silver City for 7ish to watch a movie. We watched "Wild Hogs". Very good movie I must say!! Quite funny! We were all satisfied with the selection! Later we went to Timmy's and spent almost an hour there. So all together on Friday I spent about 2 1/2 hours at Timmy's!! It's a good place! But never again!

I also just started my new job this past Monday.... the first day I can honestly say I went home with a major headache! Information overload!!! I have been there 3 days now and each day seems to be getting better! I think I also wasn't used to being at work for 8 1/2 hours straight!! I have always gone home for lunch for my 1 hour break. I can't wait until I totally feel comfortable with what I have to do!

Time to move on......

Today is officially my last day of work. I had a good time working at this job but there just wasn't enough work for me. On Monday morning I will be starting a new job at K-Tec!
It was kind of sad emptying out my drawer and throwing away old notes........ but the time has come I guess... to move on!

I guess I leave work in about 10 minutes or so, since I have no work to do and the weather is so horrible! So hopefully I make it home safe on my last drive home from this workplace!
